Admission 2017
From the academic session 2017-18, the CBCS semester system will be initiated in this college, as per UGC guidelines, and the guidelines framed by the Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University. All students applying for admission into the 1st Year class will have to carefully read the guidelines below for the basic structure of the system.

- CBCS through semesters: The BA course is a three-year degree course, divided into six semesters. Examinations will be held after each semester and semester-wise mark sheets with grade points will be issued by the university. The total grade points will be given, along with marks, in the final mark sheet.

- BA Honours course : A student admitted into an Honours course in Arts will have to study the following papers over six semesters. All papers carry 50 marks each. 1) Core Course (CC) in Honours subject – 14 papers. 2) Discipline Centric Elective (DSE) in Hons subject – 4 papers. 3) Skill Enhancement course (SEC) in Hons subject – 2 papers. 4) Ability Enhancement Compulsory course (AECC) – 2 papers (1 in language, incl English, and 1 in Environmental Studies). 5) Generic Elective course (GE) – 4 papers (one each from four different subjects)
The semester-wise break-up is as follows –
1) Semester I – CC (Papers I & II), AECC (ENVS), GE (Subject – I)
2) Semester II – CC (Papers III & IV), AECC (Language), GE (Subject – II)
3) Semester III – CC (Papers V, VI, & VII), SEC (Paper I), GE (Subject – III)
4) Semester IV – CC (Papers VIII, IX & X), SEC (Paper II), GE (Subject – IV)
5) Semester V – CC (Papers XI, XII), DSE (Papers I & II)
6) Semester VI -- CC (Papers XIII, XIV), DSE (Papers III & IV)
BA General course :
A student admitted into a General course in Arts will have to study the following papers over six semesters. All papers carry 50 marks each.
1. Discipline Specific Core (DSC) in Two subjects (one of which will be the Primary subject – 4 + 4 papers.
2. English – 2 papers
3. Modern Indian Language (MIL) – 2 papers
4. Discipline Centric Elective (DSE) in both the above subjects – 2 + 2 papers.
5. Skill Enhancement course (SEC) in the Primary subject – 4 papers.
6. Ability Enhancement Compulsory course (AECC) – 2 papers (1 in language, incl English, and 1 in Environmental Studies).
7. Generic Elective course (GE) – 2 papers (one each from two different subjects)

6. Semester VI -- SEC (Paper IV), DSE (Second paper of both subjects), GE (Subject II)
Subject combinations for General course students :
Students taking General courses in Arts will choose two Elective subjects from the following three groups (only one may be chosen from a single group) : Group I – Bengali, English,.
Group II – History, Education,.
Group III – Political Science, Geography, Physical Education.
Subject options for Generic Elective (Hons and Pass courses in Arts) :
Group I (2 subjects for Hons, and one for General to be chosen from this group in the Odd semesters) – Bengali, Education, English,
Group II (2subjects for Hons and one for General to be chosen from this group in the Even Semesters) – Political Science, Physical Education, Geography.
